Software Development Manager

 VMS Software  is looking for a software development manager to join our fast-growing team. We are part of a multinational technology conglomerate and our mission is to provide R&D services to our partners. You will be providing hands-on leadership for teams responsible for a large variety of current and future projects - from command line utilities for mission-critical operating systems to modern desktop and mobile web applications. As our engineering organization grows, you will help ensure we keep the talent bar high and growing the skills and capabilities of your teams. You will also look after people management ensuring correct staffing, supervising project deliveries, and ensuring robust staff development and successor planning.

Principal responsibilities:

• Managing multiple geographically dispersed development teams
• Participate in designing and developing new applications
• Design and develop enhancements to existing applications, throughout the entire technology stack
• Evaluate new tools / frameworks to use within our platform
• Participate as a team member in planning sprints, software design, developing and testing features
• Provide feedback to colleagues through code reviews and design collaboration
• Actively solicit and incorporate feedback from all stakeholders on new software features and designs.
• Research and present new technologies to the software development team

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience in commercial or cloud system software development
• 3+ years of experience managing software development teams of at least 5 people
• 5+ years of experience in an object-oriented language, such as Java or C++
• Experience in Agile development principles
• Experience in Atlassian stack
• Experience with web development and devops principles: REST, JavaScript, Cloud, VMs, containers, CI/CD.
• Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
• Proficiency in written and verbal English
