InvestEngine was launched in May 2019 by Gumtree co-founder Simon Crookall. In market shorthand, we are the next-generation investment platform that helps individuals and small businesses control, automate and optimise their investments portfolios. We were the first firm in our sector to launch an investment account for SMEs, income portfolios, and more recently our free DIY investing platform.

A lean start-up with big plans for innovative new services and growth, we are FCA-regulated and London-based — but very open to flexible working. 

About the role

We are looking for an energetic, independent-minded Business Analyst to be a key member of our team, based in Russia but also working closely with our UK based teams. We want someone who will focus getting into the details of problems. Your job will involve delivering multiple projects for the business — whether the current or future proposition, or its commercial or regulatory requirements. As a small but growing team, we’ll want you to actively participate in all aspects of the business with a ‘can do’ and ‘roll your sleeves up’ attitude. We’re a start-up and you’ll need to be willing to take on responsibility. You’ll be instrumental in the development, testing and launch of an exciting new service for investors in the UK which we then plan to take international. 

Our expectations of you

• Sitting between our principally Russian based development teams and our UK based Product and operations teams, providing details specification for new projects
• User acceptance testing (UAT), working with operation and the business to build testing plans and coordinating with between teams to execute plans before product releases
• Work with the Business Operations to clearly understand needs and product requirements; liaise with internal stakeholders and development team to deliver the project scope.
• Understand where data resides and how we use data throughout the platform, developing SQL report to help operations & business insights
• Identify and build reusable solutions to enable analysis and product improvements
• Use your skills and experience to find problems and opportunities across all elements of the business, help to size them and guide our product roadmap.

What you will need

• Good command of English
• Experience of working in financial services and an understanding of retail investments is advantageous 
• Experience running Business Intelligence projects (developing reporting and questioning data), SQL and analytics skills  
• The ability to restructure complex problems, making them more manageable, and to assist colleagues — with a service delivery attitude.
• Awareness of the changing investment industry and the curiosity to find opportunities in technology, market developments, regulatory/legal changes.
