What we're looking for

nami is looking for a talented senior mobile engineer / team lead to help us drive a future of DIY home security

Who we are

We are a small company founded by industry veterans. Our founders have proven skills in IoT ideation and software development. Prior to nami, they built one of the top 10 global Wi-Fi certified IoT brands, with millions of connected products deployed over four continents. Their previous product was named the best smart LED light bulb by the Wirecutter.

nami will go to market in spring 2022 with our consumer brand, Bolo, and expect professional/consumer OEM partners to launch our “Powered by nami” products in 2022.

Our tech stack:

• SwiftUI on the mobile
• C / C++ on the embedded devices
• Ruby on Rails as a backend
• PostgreSQL
• CoAP as a communication protocol

What you’ll do

You will be part of a talented team that delivers quality experiences to our customers. Here are some of the things you will be doing:

• Collaborate closely with firmware and backend developers to deliver a great experience to our customers;
• Manage an existing small team of mobile engineers and help with hiring new ones
• Contribute to the roadmap planning and give feedback to the product owner
• Improve and clean up our codebase whenever there is an opportunity;
• Squash software bugs.

If the following describes you even partially, we'd love to talk:

• Seasoned Android developer with an eye towards to Component-based frameworks, like Jetpack Compose, Flutter, SwiftUI
• You are passionate about high quality software products;
• Working as part of a team is important to you;
• You are an effective communicator in English (written and verbal);
• You are able to adapt quickly to changing requirements and work with a bit of ambiguity.

Any of The Following Will Be a Plus

• Have an eye towards the future of IoT, home security and home automation;
• Familiarity with design patterns;
• Hands-on experience with software operations: deployment, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring;
• Hands-on experience with automated testing;
• Understanding of mobile applications vulnerabilities and security;
• Understanding of networking protocols: low-level (TCP, UDP, IP) and application-level (HTTP, DNS);
• Familiarity with public key cryptography and infrastructure;
• You know your way around Linux.
• Interested in low-level details of WiFi protocol
