Senior Database Reliability Engineer / DBA

DINS is a development center of the US-based company RingCentral, which offers an innovative suite of collaboration products for enterprises, mid-size companies and small businesses worldwide.

RingCentral bought two successful startups providing contact center solutions, and we integrate them into a single product offering as a part of UCaaS. Our engineering and SRE teams work closely with startup teams, applying best practices of software development. We are looking for an experienced reliability engineer specializing in databases, who will work on database reliability and performance using best engineering principles, operational discipline and automation.

You will be a part of an international team of engineers responsible for managing all environments of a high-load service.You will contribute not only to the product focusing on high availability, maintainability and scalability, but also to the continuous improvement of team productivity.

Your responsibilities:

• Work on reliability and performance of database clusters and its components
• Take part in design and other architectural changes of key databases
• Work on observability of database load and relevant metrics, perform capacity planning
• Be a point of expertise for development teams - review of database migrations, queries and other key database changes
• Work with SRE engineers to roll out changes to production environment and help mitigate database-related production incidents
• Work on database infrastructure automation
• Provide relevant documentation to peers as a source for knowledge and subsequent automation

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience running large SQL databases in large production environments
• Strong knowledge of SQL
• Strong knowledge of SQL DBMS internals (mySQL, Aurora)
• Experience with Liquibase
• Experience with database performance optimizations
• Data modelling and data design skills
• Experience with database migrations, patching, deployment architecture changes
• Acquaintance with Linux and Unix shell
• Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management
• Passion to have best documentation possible
• Good written and verbal English communication skills (intermediate)
• Comfortable and proficient to collaborate and communicate asynchronously

Pluses:

• Knowledge or experience with MongoDD or other nosql databases
• Knowledge or experience with Amazon Redshift / DynamoDB / Couchbase
• Experience with public clouds, AWS preferable
• Experience with call- or contact centers
• French
