Company Background

Empath is the creator of the “skills intelligence as a service” product category. Founded in May of 2020 by former Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez and machine learning-oriented startup veteran Adam Blum, Empath’s software is now deployed at AT&T (company-wide), Global Foundries and Amdocs, to create complete and accurate inventories of skills for their employees. Empath is based in Silicon Valley but has a team of sixteen (primarily data scientists and developers) distributed worldwide.

Product Description

The Empath product takes an employee’s “internal digital footprint” (all of their internal company activities as represented by their reviews, their emails and charts, their course history, the bug database interaction and interaction in other company systems such as CRM and customer support systems) and determines what skills employees possess and at what proficiency level. We use a patent pending combination of natural language processing and large machine learning algorithms.
