Senior Ruby on Rails Developer (Full-stack)

The Customer is an educational technology company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the developer and publisher of a Web-based learning management system and a massive open online course (MOOC) platform. The Customer has 7 Amazon data centers around the globe. At present Budapest office with 40 engineers there looking to build add-l capacity in Minsk, Belarus with Exadel.

The Platform has a huge success during the pandemic (huge number of students rely on the platform during the pandemic). 25 millions students are using the platform at this very moment.

4 add-l products:

- Customer’s Studio: Video component of online education. Users can watch and comment, take a quiz, etc. (primarily Ruby, a little bit of GO, mostly React on front-end)

- Catalogue: for universities/secondary education to take a class from Harvard: login, pay and take course online via catalogue (primarily Ruby, a little bit of GO, mostly React on front-end)

- Online resource exclusively for the US market for elementary and high school students. Aimed to assess and help to understand how students are doing (primarily Ruby, a lot of GO, mostly React on front-end)

- World’s fastest growing Student Success Network. Exclusively developed in Budapest (php, Bootstrap and jQuery and Angular on FE)

Requirements:

• 3+ years of work experience as a Ruby on Rails developer

• Demonstrable knowledge of front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS

• Knowledge of Agile best practices

• Experience in developing highly interactive applications

• A firm grasp of object-oriented analysis and design

• Passion for writing great, simple, clean, efficient code

• Proficiency in relational databases

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or in related field

Responsibilities:

• Write clean, maintainable and efficient code

• Design robust, scalable and secure features

• Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle

• Follow best practices (test-driven development, continuous integration, SCRUM, refactoring and code standards)
