DataDirect Networks Inc. (DDN) is seeking a person to fill a leadership position for management of local resources in Russia. The role encompasses overall location operations for DDN Engineering as well as technical management. This includes operational efficiency of the Engineering personnel management and technical management leadership of the Development, Support and QA/Test Engineers. You will also partner with remote personnel managers to meet the strategic hiring and career development needs of our workforce in Russia. You are required to have a strong Storage and Software Development background of developing and supporting storage products, as well as several years’ experience managing larger teams and working with remote senior Engineering management personnel.

Responsibilities

• The single point of contact and responsibility for all engineering work at the DDN Russia location

  • Establish and provide leadership in the management and coordination of the engineers working locally and ensure operational efficiency

  • Work across DDN Engineering functional organizations and directors at remote sites to coordinate, track and direct activities with local Russia Engineers

• In conjunction with DDN Corporate offices in the USA:

  • Setup and coordinate IT infrastructure for engineering

  • Manage monthly accounting as setup with the DDN financial organization

  • Recruiting, Hiring and Human Resource development

  • Technical Program and Project Management in coordination with DDN Engineering Remote management

• Coordinate the development work between technical teams in Russia and DDN Worldwide

  • Support engineers and remote managers

  • Be the go-to person for associates with site-related issues

  • Build strategies for retention, salary, people growth, training, and promotion

  • Assist in retaining key talent, as well as the hiring and promotion of local managers and Engineers

  • Provide indirect supervision and mentoring of local Engineers

  • Build a site profile, as well as strategies for long-term hiring capabilities

  • Implement processes and systems to deliver quality products on schedule

  • Provide overall status to respective US based managers and Executives

  • Highlight promptly and collaborate with HR and Technical Managers to resolve any program or personnel conflicts

  • Manage local Engineers including performance reviews and feedback

Requirements/Qualifications

• Personally accountable and highly motivated with solid people skills

• Exceptional English communication skills

• Experience and flexibility working across countries and time zones

• Knowledge of local talent pools

• Experience working with cross-functional and remote teams

• Experience and knowledge of Russia and local government

• Post Graduate Computer Science Degree with at least Masters equivalent

• 15+ years’ experience in the Computer Engineering field with heavy focus on storage and networking

• 5-10 years technical management experience leading teams

• 10+ years in technical development of storage related programs, including support of those products

• Extensive knowledge of C, C++ and Java programming including hands on use related to development of released products

• Extensive architectural skills including driving detailed architectures and management of development resources to implement these architectures
