Devhouse is a service company that has been creating great solutions for startups in Northern Europe (Norway, Sweden, Britain) for more than 6 years. We are not just outsourcing development, we influence the product: we contribute our product expertise, help startups with shaping their ideas, create MVP and business logic. And then we develop this product together with the customer, year after year.

Now we are strengthening the team, so we are looking for another senior developer for AltoVita project.

Today,  the AltoVita platform boasts over 1.5 million properties in 1,553 locations and 165 countries, with a key point: every property is vetted and Duty of Care compliant, and customer service team is on hand 24/7 to assist should any issue arise. This is why more and more organizations want AltoVita to take care of their employees’ stays away from home, and why employees all over the world will know about the service by 2025.


You will work only on this project, in a strong product team.
The backend team line-up: teamlead, 3 middle+ developers and one junior+. There are 6 people in the frontend team, project and product managers, 3 QA specialists, CTO. 

About the role

  • We are looking for a senior backend engineer with extensive experience in php/symfony and a background in product organizations at a scale-up stage.
  • As a leader in our engineering team, you will nurture AltoVita’s transition into an exemplary product and engineering hub.
  • You will report to the Engineering Manager or Technical Leader in the team you join.

Responsibilities

  • Raise the product mindset culture of the team. The focus will not be on your individual code, but on the outcomes that you generate for our customers and your colleagues.
  • Become a guardian of the company’s best practices. Finding pragmatic ways to influence the adoption of new practices that will raise our culture.
  • Bring solutions together with problems, understand our role as problem solvers and foster collaboration with other disciplines in the solution design stages.
  • Become a technical and behavioral reference for less experienced engineers and professionals in the team. Mentor, coach, and support their development
  • Understand with adaptability and flexibility the rapidly changing nature of a startup, finding the optimal trade-off between delivery and technical debt. Focus on simplicity, efficiency, and performance.
  • Deliver high-quality software, with strong attention to well-documented code, and a testing obsession. We are a continuous delivery company.
  • Take ownership of incidents when needed, leading the investigation, the resolution, and the final post-mortem presentation.
  • Be proactive in continuous internal and external communication, with colleagues, stakeholders, or other teams in the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, a related field, or a similar professional experience.
  • Extensive experience in similar roles. Successful candidates usually have 7 years of experience or more.
  • Driven by quality and testing as much as simplicity and pragmatism.
  • Our current stack is: PHP/Symphony, Doctrine, Node.js, React.js, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB & RabbitMQ
  • Experience in other technological stacks (Kotlin, Nodejs, Python, Go) is a plus. But eagerness to learn new technologies and frameworks is a necessity.
  • Strong communication skills (English)
  • Location: only Spain or UK
