Purpose of the role
Leading and managing a team of Software Developers in Korea and working with the Product and Delivery Teams Lead in South Korea and UK to achieve the agreed goals.
Your responsibilities
1. Leading & managing a team of Software Developers
- Develop a people first agenda for the Korea Engineering
- Develop a people and career path for all engineers
- Ensure data compliance, Security & standards are met
- Work with the local and global teams to ensure alignment on standards for people and mission statements.
- Build a Korea Development team with multi-spectrum skills.
- Prioritize the development of the Korea team towards the building of Video services and R&D.
2. Senior Backend Development
- Develop and maintain APIs (REST/GraphQL) and backend / cloud services
- Partner with client developers to establish schema / data / communication protocols
- Ensure data compliance & standards are met
- Work both independently and in teams on solutions for specified requirements
- Design and develop new features for existing and new software
- Develop best practice modular & reusable code where possible
- Optimize and enhance existing software
- Write & keep relevant technical documentation
- Ensure that our software is stable and runs and scales efficiently on the cloud
- Cooperate with team members on generic solutions and infrastructure
Required qualifications
- Proven experience in leading and managing a team of software developers circa 30-50 people.
- Proven ability to manage global teams and working relationships with global development functions.
- 7+ years of professional experience in the field of software development with a focus on backend
- Excellent understanding of one (preferably more) of the following languages: JavaScript, Node.js, Typescript, Go
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent understanding of version control systems
- Easily adapts to new programming languages
- Good written and oral communication skills in Korean or English
- Degree in Computer Science or any Engineering/Physical science
- Proficiency in server-side microservices development
- Experience with building REST API, and deployment
- Excellent understanding of version control systems
